Talking about one special place. The outside looks cool but the inside is absolutely amazing. Beautiful warm colors in the reception area. Great blue designs in the dining area. Super big windows to enjoy the view from every angle imaginable. The staff is great and super helpful. English is not their first language but they will do their best to figure it out. I was here for a wedding. The food and attention to detail were amazing. Absolutely loved my stay. If you like to hike you are also in the right place. The hikes around the lake and up to the back mountains of the hotel are absolutely breathtaking. Could not have imagined a better place to stay in Finse. Oh and not to forget, their breakfast buffet was to die for. So many choices from salmon to fruits and waffles. Vegan options too. Different breads and yoghurts. Absolutely perfect.

Rooms are compact but comfortable. Food was very good. Bar was available in the lobby along with coffee and water. Spectacular view for the rooms on the backside of the hotel. Great place to rest before starting the bike route. Rented bikes, helmets, and bags as well with no fuss.

Britt Sissel & team did a great job. Best managed hotel on our Norway trip. High quality food both at breakfast and at dinner. Space to relax for hotel guests. Nice and contemporary interior preserving some of the place’s heritage. While the place is by nature not prepared for strollers (we knew beforehand) they tried to support as much as possible. Thanks for the great hospitality!

My family and I are very upset with the treatment by Hotel Finse 122 due to their lack of sensitivity and empathy. Unfortunately, we could not enjoy the room or the pre-paid meals because the Hanse storm prevented us from reaching the hotel since the trains were cancelled. Faced with an extraordinary situation not caused by our fault, there has not been a single gesture from the hotel. No apologies, no option to return another day, no refund of part or all of what was paid in advance. We are very disappointed.

We were disappointed with the service. Due to the Hanse storm our train was cancelled and there was no way to reach Finse. Both the accommodation with breakfast and lunch as well as the reserved bikes including the bike bag and the one way transport back from Flåm we had to pay in full. There was no accommodating due to the exceptional situation and also the bike transport could not have taken place due to the train track closure. We have not received an invoice for the canceled bikes until today.

Staff are very helpful and they have nearly the world class service. There was just one misunderstanding or confusion about the buffet dinner at the hotel. The website was not clear about whether dinner was included in the room rate so we assumed that it’s not. Breakfast and packed lunch is included explicitly in the confirmation email. When we had breakfast the first day, a staff came and asked when we’d like to have dinner that evening. We said no, it’s not necessary. Then the staff wondered, “are you sure you don’t need that? It’s included if you booked the hotel through the hotel website.” Because we did, we booked the time for dinner and enjoyed it for two nights. But, when we checked out later, we were asked to pay for the dinner. It’s not the dinner isn’t worth it but it’s about the disastrous communication. I guess the staff at the breakfast was trying to be nice but turned out it was huge mistake to give customers wrong expectation. The experience at the hotel was perfect until that awkward moment that I had to pay for something which I’m not expected.

I participated in the Finse Expedition Festival 2023, a 3-day event on the topic of ski expeditions. I liked the various presentations and activities such as the pulk race a lot. However, I need to deduct some points for (1) general low value for money and (2) average food quality. First, the festival price (2 nights accommodation with breakfast and dinner included) was at roughly 8,000 NOK (~800 EUR) per person. The hotel has been rehabilitated but still does not match the comfort of other hotels such as Scandic, Thon or Clarion. Being the only hotel on Finse, I fear that the owners hope that guests might take lower quality for granted in lack of alternatives. Second, the food was not very good at all. When served a menu, portions were small. Vegetarian and vegan options were poor. Particularly the evening buffet was dissppointing: so much meat to choose from but only 3 different types of cheeses. I would have appreciated a more sustainable food offering. One is very close to nature on Finse and I wish that Finse 1222 would be as well with a stronger focus on sustainability in the future.

Terrible food, rude and ignorant untrained staff. Simple breakfast buffet that often ran out. The rooms have nothing extra, only a bed, a table and a chair, the walls were white without decoration. No TV or fridge. Hårreisene prices, NOK 40 for a snickers, NOK 80 for a pack of biscuits, NOK 180 for a drink and NOK 110 for a ciabatta.
